The term “organic” is used for grapes that are grown in accordance with the principles of organic farming. These include using no artificial, chemical fertilizers (though enriching the soil with natural compost and minerals is permitted), and cultivating without the use of pesticides, fungicides or herbicides. The amount of added sulfites depends on each country, but in general is lower than the conventional wines.
